News regarding applications that will be available on the Palm Pre when the phone launches has been thin on the ground, and there has been some concern amongst Palm fans that the company hadn’t done enough to promote the operating system to companies able to utilize the unique qualities of webOS and promote the phone as, well, more than a phone.
Worry no more as Engadget has revealed that there will be a lot of major applications available to Palm Pre users when the phone launches on June 6th.
Interestingly the list leaked from Sprint reveals a Sling Media app from those guys making SlingPlayer, and SlingBoxes, which, seeing as it appears in the Sprint friendly list of apps might mean it can be used over 3G. Maybe the ‘Now Network’ can handle it. maybe not. We’ll see. (Also Sling said it would wait to develop a webOS app untill the operating system had proved itself – has it done that now?)
The rest of the list reads as follows:
Pandora, Electronic Arts, SGN, Craig’s List, Sling Media, DirectTV, Facebook, MySpace, Match.com, Loopt, Twitter, City Search, Zagat, Fandango, Movietickets.com, Lonely Planet, FlightView, NYTimes, AP Mobile, ESPN, Handmark Stocks, Bank of America, Intuit, Epocrates, WebMD, Salesforce.com, Austin Lane, DataViz, Mark/Space

Mark/Space?! Does this mean they are doing Missing Sync for Pre? I use it with my Treo. This is good news for us Mac users. I guess Palm cares about Mac users again!

Yeah, well if they do The Missing Sync for the Pre I’ll buy one. But don’t hold your breath. Palm hasn’t updated palm desktop in years.

No memo support is a deal breaker for me. And no contact categories. No Pre envy here….these things are basic!
