I think the charger (Touch Stone) will have other uses than just charging. I was watching a video where a demo rep stated they were coming out with a Touch Stone product line. Now I am looking forward to that, IF that is the case?

yea one more lingering question. Currently i have a instinct there are things i like and dislike about the phone one thing i hate and that apple got right was the fact that when you place the phone up to your face the screen stops all touch functions. Or when you iphone is in your pocket you can't accidently dial people or start applications because of the light sensor in the phone little things like this go along way to enjoying the device. So is there a screen guard on when i'm in calls and when i place my phone in my pocket if i happen to press a button will it activate?

@X-TIN

I don't want to be a downie, but you have to keep in mind that the Pre is being compared to a software that's a year old. The iphone 2.0 probably isn't comparable to the palm pre at all except in its app store, but I don't think you'll find the situation to be the same with iphone 3.0. The pre will probably still be the king in multitasking, but in everything else (even web-browsing) I think its fair game. And the next-gen iphone is coming out too, so you have to pay attention not only to iphone 3.0, but also the specifications and capabilities of the new iphone.

But anyways I pretty glad that the pre is releasing soon. I'm a dedicated iphone user but I still hope that the pre does well because that only means that apple will do a lot more for the iphone in the future. Apple has been sitting on a little cloud and I think they've started to believe that they would be on top forever. But this phone (hopefully) will be a little wake-up call. I'm probably upgrading to the iphone 2009 because I have so many applications that I am very dependant on. Transfering all the data and rebuying and searching for similar apps on the pre will be a little onerous. And also because I kind of think that iphone 2009 running 3.0 will be a little bit better overall (just a little bit). I feel like apple's new software will bring in developer's like crazy. I watched the entire 3.0 SDK (I also watched the entire pre presenation a while ago but that's besides the point) and was actually surprised to see that half of the keynote was dedicated to the developers.

Palm Pre is going to be great no doubt, but don't forget about the future competition.

Where does everything get backed up to? My computer? the cloud?

If I had the pre loaded with say 8g of music that maybe got switched around for different stuff every day (so there would be no backed up database flag or anything like that), is that 8g of data being transferred over the phone network every day? could get expensive

Does everything get backed up? Even apps and settings? Notes, Tasks? Glad to hear of this functionality because I was worried about notes and tasks especially. What about restoring it? Is there some restore facility?
