PhoneNews are reporting two genuine release dates via a memo that has been sent out to Sprint employees. According to the internal memo Sprint has implemented a vacation freeze for the month of May.
The first date for launch is May 17th (holla at your goons for predicting a mid-March release).
Employees noted that Sprint does not typically institute vacation/paid time off freezes in May, lending credence to the rumors of a late April-mid May launch while also falling inline with the oft-repeated first-half 2009 launch window first confirmed at CES.
That date however is dependent on their being a large enough stock of the Pre to supply the demand. If Palm don’t feel the stock is large enough then we won’t see the Pre till…

SPRINT/PALM better hope Chi Mei have their workers under lock and key and are forcing them to work 168 hour weeks because a June release date that co-incides with the rumoured new iPhone could cripple Palm irreversibly.

I asked a Sprint salesman at the mall when the Pre was coming out. He said flat out it would be in May.

i’ve my local sprint store workers and they practically act like they don’t even know it’s coming out! i hate when they act completely oblivious to the new stuff! nevertheless, i can’t wait!

Sprint should start taking orders NOW! Take an order and give a tentative shipping date. This would be a partial solution to the possibility of loosing orders to the iPhone as it’s new release nears.
